His replacement, Jason Skaggs, who is currently serving as TSCRA’s executive director of government and public affairs, will assume the position on Sept. 1.
White has served as vice president and CEO of TSCRA since 2007. Before his work with TSCRA, he worked as a county extension agent over 4-H and livestock after earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Utah State University. Later, he served as the director of marketing and transportation systems for the National Cattlemen’s Association, now the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. In 1983 he took a position with the American Sheep Producers Council as director of producer services. After they merged with the National Wool Growers Association to become the American Sheep Industry Association, he was named vice president for policy and government affairs and chief operating officer, where he served until becoming executive vice president of the National Agri-Marketing Association in 1991.
White served admirably during his 11-year run as executive vice president and CEO of TSCRA, helping strengthen the organization from the inside out. He is credited with several notable achievements including a consistent increase in membership and financial stability, leaving the organization in a strong position. “I cannot praise Eldon enough for the tremendous job he has done as the chief executive for our association,” said TSCRA President Bobby McKnight in a TSCRA press release. “Eldon’s leadership has brought about very positive changes to TSCRA, and his expertise has been beneficial for cattle raisers not just in Texas, but across the entire country.”
Skaggs, who was tapped to be the next executive vice president and CEO, has led the TSCRA Government and Public Affairs office in Austin, Texas, for the last 10 years and has served with distinction, earning the respect of legislators and colleagues alike. “Jason has been an instrumental part of TSCRA over the past 10 years and is absolutely the right choice for the job,” said McKnight. “I am confident that his loyalty, dedication and extensive knowledge will help serve our association and the entire cattle industry well.”
White is also confident in Skaggs’ leadership. “It has been a tremendous honor to be a part of this esteemed association,” he said in the press release, “and while it is a difficult choice to retire, I know I leave TSCRA well-positioned for continued success and in extremely capable hands.”
