George is a graduate student at Oklahoma State University, where she is pursuing her master’s degree in agricultural communications. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin (UW) – River Falls in May 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in both agricultural marketing and communications and agricultural business, with a minor in animal science.
Though originally from the dairy state, George grew up on a beef cattle farm. At the age of 10, she took out an FSA youth loan and purchased her own cattle and has since grown her herd. She also showed cattle at local jackpots and national shows as a junior exhibitor. She continues to enjoy helping her younger siblings and other youth in her area with their cattle projects when she is back home in Wisconsin.
“Agriculture and raising beef cattle have always played a huge part in my life,” George said. “I want to educate, advocate and communicate the message of agriculture. This internship is an opportunity for me to help share those stories producers have.”
Prior to working for Progressive Publishing, George worked as the communication and events intern for Partnership for Progressive Agriculture in Wausau, Wisconsin. In this role, she was responsible for creating interactive educational displays on Wisconsin agriculture, planning events that promote and educate agriculture, and recruiting and coordinating volunteers for the Wisconsin Valley Fair. During summer 2020, George worked as the marketing and communications intern for the Progressive Agriculture Foundation (PAF). During her time with PAF, she developed marketing tools that assisted the foundation and safety day coordinators in promoting their events. She also developed an online training program made up of a series of videos, graphics and animations.
George was an active member of both FFA and 4-H growing up, among other organizations. She held leadership positions in both for multiple years. She was also involved with the UW – River Falls Beef Management Team and Block and Bridle Club in her undergraduate education. She continues to be involved in extracurriculars in her current graduate education and her hometown FFA alumni group. George loves all things agriculture, raising and showing beef cattle, photography and travel.
“I am excited to be working with Progressive Cattle this summer,” George said. “I am eager to jump in and get started working with the Progressive Cattle team and networking with industry professionals while enhancing my communication and writing skills.”
