Horning Manufacturing introduces the Shredder Mill 2800
Horning Manufacturing, a manufacturer of quality agricultural equipment, has unveiled its most efficient corn processing solution yet – the Shredder Mill 2800. The Shredder Mill 2800 combines milling and bagging processes into a single machine. This eliminates the need for separate pieces of equipment as well as the challenges of keeping them in constant alignment.
An upgrade to Horning’s popular 340 model, the 2800 allows farmers to process and bag high-moisture corn faster than ever before – up to 2,300 bushels an hour. “With tractors getting bigger, farmers needed milling equipment that could keep up with demand,” said Leon Horning.
The 2800 is power takeoff (PTO)-driven but has its own hydraulic and braking system, simplifying connections and reducing load on the tractor. The machine’s 300-horsepower, easy-access belt system drives the fuel-saving on-demand hydraulic pump. Integral disc brakes make for consistent, tightly packed bags.
Thanks to the updated intake hopper, operators will experience less spillage when transferring from trucks or wagons. In addition, the auger can now be used on either the left or right side of the machine, making unloading a breeze.
Special features include a sample inspection drawer, one-man hoop changes, single-wrench roll adjustments and an easy access cleanout compartment. An optional inoculation system is also available.
With agriculture constantly evolving, Horning's new shredder mill aims to simplify harvest while meeting higher volume needs. It is the first of their 2800 series – blower and auger out models are coming soon.

Kuhn 5640 field cultivator
Kuhn North America Inc. is pleased to introduce the new 5640 field cultivator. The 5640 model brings several new features and sizes building upon the solid performance of the 5635. New 56-foot and 60-foot sizes are available for large producers looking to utilize the ever-increasing horsepower of large tractors. The machine has been designed for narrow transport allowing easy transportation from field to field. In addition, the frame has been designed to optimize both strength and weight per foot, ensuring machine performance in wet conditions. Hydraulic positive stop depth control is a standard feature that allows the operator to adjust the depth of each section independent of the other sections.
Customer favorites have been retained, such as the unique floating hitch design that lifts the gauge wheels off the ground during transport providing greater machine stability avoiding the dreaded “castor wobble” of other competitive machines. The 5640 retains the industry leading 139-inch depth of frame for handling high volumes of residue and offers a choice of spring or K-Tine mounts fitted with either edge-on or flat shanks depending on soil and residue conditions. The 24/7 leveling systems offer our customers six different configurations of leveling attachments, featuring a new anti-tangle five-row spike tooth harrow and a new optional hydraulic reel lift. These 24/7 leveling attachments allow for continued operation in heavy residue and wet conditions.
The 5640 field cultivator is available in 56-foot-6-inch and 60-foot-6-inch RTK working widths.
Bayer debuts streamlined FieldView Drive 2.0 farm-management device
Bayer has launched FieldView Drive 2.0, a small plug-and-play device farmers can use to connect, monitor and record activities across different farm equipment types and brands. The next-generation device provides more processing power, data storage and in-field connection stability in an effort to improve how farmers connect with digital solutions and gather data during planting, spraying and harvest activities.
The FieldView Drive 2.0 has already been tested by hundreds of farmers, and this product is being showcased this week at the 2024 Farm Progress Show and available for order while supplies last. Bayer anticipates shipping the new hardware starting early next year, pending applicable regulatory approvals.
Akin to upgrading an old smartphone, the new device improves the data-driven Climate FieldView experience and allows farmers to do more with precision equipment. It streamlines how seed prescriptions and other “scripts” transfer from FieldView directly to precision farming equipment. When factors like soil type and elevation cause some parts of a crop field to perform better than others, many farmers create management zones and assign different application rates for seed, fertilizer and pesticides based on the needs of each zone. Then they use their precision equipment to execute those scripts across their fields.
FieldView Drive 2.0 serves as a link between farm inputs, digital solutions and precision equipment. According to a Bayer news release, the new prescription delivery feature supports global expansion of new crop systems like the Preceon Smart Corn System, which incorporates digital prescriptions and recommendations – including seeding rate – as part of the system.
An upgrade from its predecessor that launched in 2016, FieldView Drive 2.0 adds equipment compatibility while continuing to work with all makes and models of equipment.
Massey Ferguson 9S Series tractor brings efficiency and dependability to your farm
Agco Corporation, a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of agricultural machinery and precision ag technology, recently announced the North American debut of the Massey Ferguson 9S Series tractor. Designed with the farmer in mind, the MF 9S Series offers dependability and efficiency to help farmers achieve a lower overall cost of ownership.
The MF 9S Series sets a new standard when it comes to efficiency, dependability and field-proven technology. Its high-quality design, along with Massey Ferguson's commitment to product value, ensures farmers get into the field on time, ready to meet their optimum planting window. While in the field, operators have experienced up to a 15% reduction in fuel consumption to help reduce costs and maximize profits.
Designed with field-proven technology, including the industry-leading duo 8.4-liter Agco Power engine, Dyna-VT transmission and Protect-U cab design, as seen on previous Massey Ferguson S Series models, the MF 9S delivers maximum power and efficiency for demanding implements. The 90 GPM eco (economy) pump will allow farmers to deliver the power needed to operate the technology features on the implements they need without taking that power away from the operation of the tractor itself. Each farm and every field are different, and the eco pump enables farmers to adapt their operations. The right ballast reduces unneeded compaction while providing high levels of traction for heavy draft work, ensuring the maximum amount of power for farmers' operations. Additionally, MF Care service comes standard on every tractor and is partnered with extended warranty options, guaranteed optimal performance, and reduced costs and servicing time.
In addition to money-saving power, the MF 9S Series features Massey Ferguson's exclusive Protect-U design, boasting superior cab comfort and visibility. "Massey Ferguson wanted to ensure operator comfort while making operations simpler and faster," Arnold stated.
For more information on the MF 9S Series, visit the Massey Ferguson website or stop by Agco's booth (1002) at the Farm Progress Show.
