This report from Reuters quotes officials at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) saying their own procedures are potentially going to be restructured as a result. On Wednesday, the CME suspended lean hog and feeder cattle price indexes, which both rely on USDA price data.
The USDA crop production report was scheduled for release Oct. 11. Since it requires two weeks of surveying and data gathering, the reporting process will be disrupted and the critical report will undoubtedly be delayed.
