The mammoth Charolais bull weighed in at 3,032 pounds at the Iowa State Fair Super Bull competition this week. Owned by Berns Miner Farms of Postville, the bull was born in 2008 and is an active sire for the operation. He was purchased from North Dakota, the Spencer Daily Reporter said, as part of a commercial breeding program crossing Red Angus and Charolais.
Best quote to the AgriNews: "Squirt doesn't eat anything special," Said Cindy Berns. "He just eats a lot."
The bull fell 372 pounds short of becoming the record-holder "Super Bull."
The fair was to be visited by Al Roker of the Today Show on Friday and will be a star by the end of the weekend.
