The annual gathering of agricultural enthusiasts in Woodstock, Ontario, at Canada's Outdoor Farm Show brought a week full of smiles, beautiful weather and insightful conversations. The Canadian dairy industry was well represented at the exhibition Sept. 10-12.
During the Ag Tech Breakfast Wednesday morning, several new companies were selected to make a short pitch about their products to attendees. Of the six that presented, four were dairy-related, focused on herd health, animal monitoring and more. The Dairy Innovation Centre and TD Dairy Producers Pavilion were full of dairy enthusiasts for the duration of the event – reuniting with old friends, meeting new acquaintances and having thought-provoking conversations.
Progressive Dairy Operators hosted a banquet and tour during the farm show week, with the evening banquet discussion focused on cybersecurity. University of Guelph’s Ali Dehghantanha presented attendees with potential online threats and opportunities for the dairy industry to consider. (See Is your herd safe? Cybersecurity essentials for dairy farms for a deep dive on this discussion.) Participants then toured five unique dairies in southeastern Ontario, giving them the opportunity to learn more about automated dairy systems, improved ventilation, compost bedding, direct-to-consumer production and advanced feeding systems.
Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show reported over 650 exhibitors and 37,051 attendees. The event is scheduled back in Woodstock Sept. 9-11, 2025.
